DARLASTON Town 1874 are mourning the loss of Leon Taylor at the age of 36.
Taylor was taken ill yesterday (Wednesday) night at the JW Hunt Cup game with Dudley Town before the club announced his passing this morning. Darlaston manager Dean Gill said: "Our love and support are with Leon’s family, friends, and team-mates. "In due course as a club, we will pay our respects to Leon in the way he deserves." Forward Taylor (pictured below) had also played for Walsall Wood, Wednesfield, Tividale and AFC Wulfrunians. Current Walsall Wood boss Harry Harris said: "I spoke to him every day – he was one of my best mates. "He was just a great lad – I had so many good times with him. No-one ever had anything bad to say about him and he wouldn’t ever say anything bad about anyone else." Darlaston's next two games - with Shawbury on Saturday and Ashby Ivanhoe on Saturday December 4 have been postponed as a mark of respect. Everyone at the Midland Football League also sends their deepest condolences to Leon's family and all at DarlastonTown FC. Comments are closed.
