Following the recent abandonment of the Moldwel Products League Cup Semi-Final between Atherstone Town and Hinckley AFC during the penalty shoot-out, the Midland Football League (MFL) sought permission from Birmingham County Football Association (BCFA) to decide the outcome of this tie, prior to the conclusion of BCFA's investigation and disciplinary processes.
After consultation, both the League (MFL) and the respective Clubs were in agreement that the best way to decide the outcome of the semi-final was for the match to be replayed, in full, on Wednesday, 26th April. However, Birmingham County FA have informed us, that as the fixture was suspended during the taking of penalty kicks, then the only option that we, as a league, have is to recomplete the penalty shoot-out only. This tie will now be completed by the completion of a penalty shoot-out on Wednesday, 26th April, behind closed doors at Atherstone Town FC, with the successful team going forward to meet Whitchurch Alport in the final at Walsall FC on Wednesday, 10th May. This midweek sees a busy programme of Midland Football League action as the season nears its conclusion. There is still plenty to play for across the Midland Football League divisions as sides challenge for championships and play-off spots or battle to avoid the dreaded drop.
