OVER £11,000 has already been raised by a GoFundMe page for Darlaston Town 1874 striker Leon Taylor who died last week.
Leon, 36, was taken ill last Wednesday watching a cup tie and subsequently died. The campaign was set up to help with the immediate day-to-day living costs of his partner Kelly and their two children, Tia-Nicole and Theo. Tributes were made from all Leon's former clubs, a number from the Midland Football League, and flowers, football shirts and scarves and a picture of Leon have been left at the gates of the clubs' Paycare Stadium. A club statement said: "The love shown to Leon has been remarkable and we thank everyone for their love and support to him and the family and thank you in advance for your kind donation however big or small." Dalaston manager Dean Gill tweeted that the fund had reached in excess of £11,000 in the last 48 hours since it was launched.
