YOUNGSTER Santi Sesay has said a fond farewell to the UK and Stapenhill to return to Sierra Leone.
The teenager has been over in England on a six month visa which expired this week and has been playing for the Swans since August. Santi, an attacking midfielder, previously visited the UK when he was 16 and trained with Walsall Academy, a club that sponsors his parent team in Sierra Leone. One of the Walsall supporters trust members lives near Stapenhill and recommended Santi - who only turned 18 in July - to the club. During his time at the club he also trained with clubs at a higher level. He made his debut in August at Dudley Town and scored, and typically signed off with a goal in the 4-2 win over Ashby Ivanhoe on Monday. The club held a presentation and a party for him after the game. Stapenhill secretary Adam Drew, who was tasked with getting international clearance for the player, said it had been a pleasure to see him play. "Not only is he an exceptional talent on the field but a humble and engaging young man off it and everyone from the players, officials and supporters have enjoyed having him here. " I believe he may have flown to Gambia for a holiday first but he will eventually be back in Sierra Leone and no doubt keen to play football. "I really hope he can continue his football education whether in his home country where there is some exceptional talent, Europe or elsewhere in the world - he is young enough and good enough to do play at a high level." After the last game, Santi recorded a video for the club's twitter feed where he spoke of his delight at signing off with a win and being able to score. He also paid tribute to Adam for his hard work in obtaining clearance, his team mates, the chairman and officials and supporters of the club."
