ROMULUS took some of the honours in the FA Cup, beating Southern League neighbours Sutton Coldfield Town 2-0 at home.
The Roms' victory came courtesy of first half goals from Umar Zaman and Jack Whelan. AFC Wulfrunians went out 2-1 at home to higher level opposition in Newcastle Town, Brad Sharman getting the consolation for Wulfs. In an all MFL tie, Tividale won 4-0 at Darlaston Town (1874) CIC with goals from Dan Smith and Curtis Cocking early on and then Jason Wood and Jack Fletcher. Racing Club Warwick won another all premier division tie 2-1 against Bewley Town and Atherstone Town beat neighbours Gresley Rovers by the same score. Division One action saw last season's play off runners up Stapenhill start the season well, beating OJM Black Country 4-3 in a thriller. Oli Roome, Cameron Steele, Charley Rumin and Harry Lansdowne were all on target for the Swans, Brian Smikle and Zaqib Husain with two replying for OJM. Ryan Conlon got an opening day hat-trick for first division new boys Coton Green who beat Cradley Town 6-2, Matty Gardner also weighing in with two. Dudley Town, who reached the play off finals last season will have hight hopes of another promotion push but let a two goal lead slip on the opening day against Ashby Ivanhoe. The Robins had gone into a two goal lead through debutants Kyle Montague and Dan Hadley but Ashby - who also made the play-offs last season - came back and grabbed a point with a last minute penalty.
