ANDY Nicol made history at The Paycare Stadium yesterday by breaking Darlaston Town's all time scoring record in a game, netting all the goals in a 7-0 drubbing of Khalsa Football Federation.
Ironically he broke the record previously held jointly held by Eddie Glover, who sadly passed away this week. Glover scored five in a West Midlands Regional League game at Lye in 1962 and Bill Chambers got his five in a Birmingham Combination fixture in 1932. Nicol (pictured celebrating) accomplished the same feat of five goals in the same game in a 29 minute first half spell and added two more to his tally in the second half to break the club record which had stood for 89 years. The former Worcester City marksman has already scored 13 goals in four games this season. Darlaston chairman Neil Chambers said Eddie, who regularly visited and supported the club, would be missed and a minutes' silence will be held before the home game with Nuneaton Griff next Saturday.
