HANLEY TOWN are ten points clear in the Midland Football League Premier Division going into the new year after Monday's games.
They beat Stone Old Alleynians 1-0 courtesy of a first half strike from Josh Green. The two other early kick offs both saw away wins with Stourport beating Bewdley 6-0 away in front of 311 at Ribbesford Meadow. All six goals were from different scorers - they were Lee Hughes, Mark Danks, Taylor Townsend, Edilson Antonio, Mason Birch and Connor Gater. And an Elliott Hartley goal on 64 minutes gave Tividale a 1-0 win at Lye Town. The afternoon programme saw Boldmere St Michaels draw 1-1 at home to Romulus with a goal from Lewis Archer before Rom's Deshon Carty equalised. Two goals from Aaron Bishop helped AFC Wulfrunians to a 5-2 win over Wolverhampton Casuals, Chris Knight, Tom Poole and Jack Rowley getting the others. Casual's goals were scored by Angelo Franco and Dean Williams from the penalty spot. Shifnal Town beat Uttoxeter Town 4-0 at the Acoustafoam Stadium with two goals from Tom Hill, one from Keanu Cooper and one from Callum Greybrook. Lichfield City beat Walsall Wood 4-2 but the game between Whitchurch Alport and Haughmond was postponed and Worcester City didn't have a game. In the first division, the top two teams in Atherstone Town and Stapenhill both won. Atherstone beat Chelmsley Town away 3-0 and Stapenhill overcame Ashby Ivanhoe at home 4-2 with goals from Haydn Brown, Ash Garner, Connor Richins and the departing Santi Sesay. Chris Acott got Ashby's two goals.
