Dudley Town Juniors donated £155 from the takings of their Midland Football Youth League game last night to the Leon Taylor fund. Many spectators paid more than the normal £3 entrance fee. The fund, for the family of Leon who died last week, raised over £11,000 in the 48 hours since it was launched on Friday. Leon, 36, was taken ill last Wednesday watching a cup tie and subsequently died. The campaign was set up to help with the immediate day-to-day living costs of his partner Kelly and their two children, Tia-Nicole and Theo. Tributes were made from all Leon's former clubs, a number from the Midland Football League, and flowers, football shirts and scarves and a picture of Leon have been left at the gates of the clubs' Paycare Stadium. A club statement said: "The love shown to Leon has been remarkable and we thank everyone for their love and support to him and the family and thank you in advance for your kind donation however big or small." Taylor was taken ill yesterday (Wednesday) night at the JW Hunt Cup game with Dudley Town before the club announced his passing this morning. Darlaston manager Dean Gill said: "Our love and support are with Leon’s family, friends, and team-mates. "In due course as a club, we will pay our respects to Leon in the way he deserves." Forward Taylor (pictured below) had also played for Walsall Wood, Wednesfield, Tividale and AFC Wulfrunians. Current Walsall Wood boss Harry Harris said: "I spoke to him every day – he was one of my best mates. "He was just a great lad – I had so many good times with him. No-one ever had anything bad to say about him and he wouldn’t ever say anything bad about anyone else." Two goals from both Tom Hill and Reece Wedderburn and one from Harry Cunningham, all in the second half, gave Shifnal an ultimately emphatic victory. Meanwhile an 87th minute Alex Hughes winner kept up Whitchurch Alport's recent good run of form with a 2-1 win at Walsall Wood. Worcester are chasing the top spot and a four goal first-half-blast from Bailey Fuller put them in the driving seat against Bewdley Town, with Fortune Maphosa and Will Gibbons adding further goals. Lichfield, along with Hanley, remain unbeaten after edging out Stone Old Alleynians 2-1. David Abelwhite gave the home side the lead from the penalty spot before Lichfield got their own penalty, converted by Dan Lomas. Lichfield captain Kyle Patterson scored the winner on 50 minutes.
