There’s plenty of action involving Midland Football League clubs on Tuesday night with no fewer than twelve matches scheduled across six different competitions.
In the Premier Division, Lye Town, who currently sit in 11th place can move all the way up to 3rd with a win at home to bottom of the table Market Drayton Town. Such is the competitive nature of the Midland Football League Premier Division that only five points separate 3rd from 13th in the league standings. The reverse fixture at the end of October was an entertaining affair, the Fliers emerging with a 4-3 victory over the Gingerbread Men thanks to Sam Tye’s stoppage time winner. Tonight’s Midland Football League Premier Division fixture: Lye Town vs Market Drayton Town (7:45pm) Also in league action are Wednesfield and Droitwich Spa who meet at the Cottage Ground in Division 1. Droitwich Spa will be looking to close the gap on the play-off places with a win against a Wednesfield side who sit comfortably in mid-table despite losing their last three league fixtures. Tonight’s Midland Football League Division 1 fixture: Wednesfield vs Droitwich Spa (7:45pm) There are three fixtures in the Moldwel Products League Cup on Tuesday night, the highlight of which sees an all MFL Premier Division local derby as Tividale host Darlaston Town (1874) at the Beeches. The sides have already met twice this season with contrasting results. When the two clubs met in the FA Cup back in August it was Tividale who emerged as comfortable 4-0 victors, however when the sides met in the league the match finished goalless. Elsewhere in the Moldwel Products League Cup, Premier Division meets Division 1 when Stourport Siwfts host the ever-improving Cradley Town. Lichfield City travel to Northern Premier League Premier Division side Stafford Rangers in the tie of the round and will be going all-out to cause an upset. Finally Northern Premier League 1st Division Midlands side Sporting Khalsa welcome Stone Old Alleynians to the Aspray Arena. On Tuesday night the JW Hunt has two fixtures scheduled to take place with all four participating clubs Midland Football League members. The all-Premier Division tie sees second placed Shifnal Town take a break from league action as they host Bewdley Town, whilst the all-Division 1 tie takes place at Coles Lane where Division 1 leaders Dudley Town travel to Paget Rangers. The Bears have been on a torrid run in the league but have been cup specialists this campaign and after their 3-0 victory over Midland Football League Premier Division side Wolverhampton Casuals in the Walsall Senior Cup last midweek, they will be hoping to cause a cup upset once again.
