There were plenty of goals in the Midland Football League Premier Division this weekend.
Walsall Wood extended their lead at the top of the table to 13 points with a 2-0 victory away at Highgate United, Mitchell Tolley securing the points with a late penalty. Darlaston Town (1874) move up to second after beating Uttoxeter Town thanks to second half goals from Ben Podmore and Josh Jones, whilst Stourport Swifts fell to a narrow defeat at Studley. Lichfield City continued their promotion push with a 3-0 victory against bottom-of-the-table Market Drayton Town, Max Dixon, Daniel Lomas and Leighton McMenemy with the goals. Elsewhere there was a victory for AFC Wulfrunians 2-1 against Whitchurch Alport, Aaron Bishop and Craig Gregg putting the hosts two goals ahead before Oliver Pope scored for Whitchurch in the 87th minute to set up a nervy finish. Shifnal Town won 2-0 against Tividale, Jeremy Abbey and Luke Walsh with the Shifnal goals. The points were shared at Castle Vale Stadium where Lye Town fought back from 3-1 down with ten men to secure a 3-3 draw against Romulus, and Bewdley Town shared the spoils, 2-2 with Racing Club Warwick. Ashby Ivanhoe are up to second after a narrow 1-0 victory away at AFC Bridgnorth, Sam Grouse with the only goal of the game. Whilst Bilston Town drop to 3rd after losing 3-0 at home to Hinckley, a brace from Tom Weale and a goal from Lewis Collins securing victory for the visitors. OJM Black Country made it eight league wins in a row, beating Coton Green 4-1. The in-form side saw Zaqib Hussain bag a brace with Casey Collins and David Meese also on the scoresheet, Matt Gardner replying for Coton. Meanwhile Droitwich Spa enjoyed a 2-0 victory against Ingles, James Lemon with both goals, Spa also having Cory Rudd sent off. Chelmsley Town picked up a superb 3-1 victory away at Stapenhill, Oliver Jeeves, Sam Jeeves and Mark Rose scoring for Chelmsley, the Swans goal came from Niall Dawkins. Bottom of the table Cradley Town won 3-2 away at Wednesfield, Chris Bladen scoring twice, with Brad Ward also on the scoresheet for Cradley who had Nana Frimpong sent off. Wednesfield's goals came through Dimitri Dunkley and Ashley Southall. Coventry Copsewood continue to move up the table beating Shawbury United 5-0 at home on Saturday, with five different scorers. Ben Atkins, Kolawole Salawu, Bryan Kohyrelon, Ryan Pedley and Jamie Tiff all on the scoresheet for the Copses. Wolverhampton Sporting Community were also victorious, beating Haughmond 2-0 at Pride Park. In Division 2 the points were shared as Barnt Green Spartak drew 2-2 at home to Inkberrow. Cadbury Athletic took advantage of Sutton United being in cup action to move to the top of the Division 2 table with a 2-1 victory over Earlswood Town at the Rec, Jason Dinanga and Ethan Hanks with the goals for the Chocolate Men, Michael Bridges replying for Earlswood. Fairfield Villa saw off Boldmere Sports & Social Falcons 2-0, thanks to goals from Oliver Parsons and Rene Adigbo, whilst Lane Head picked up a 3-0 victory at home to Redditch Borough, Jack Arnold, Sam Baxter and Mark Swan on the scoresheet. In Division 3, Solihull Sporting beat Castle Vale Town 3-2 and Leamington Hibs enjoyed a 3-1 victory away at Coventry Dunlop. In the only other game, Continental Star won 4-2 at home against Birmingham Tigers.
