DARLASTON Town 1874 are celebrating after a dramatic 96th minute strike from substitute Kieron Miller secured their place in the
Midland Football League Premier Division after a 2-1 win over Stapenhill. Miller angled a shot from close to the touchline, around 30 yards out, which gave Stapenhill goalkeeper Paul Hollis no chance - it was a goal worthy of winning any game. George Teeney had equalised in the 86th minute for Stapenhill from close range after Jake Pearson had earlier given Darlaston the lead on 68 minutes. Darlaston had finished above Stapenhill in the regular season on goal difference, giving them home advantage for the play off final. DARLASTON Town and Stapenhill play off on Saturday to decide who goes up to the premier division next season.
A big crown is expected at the Paycare Stadium, Darlaston for the one off game between two teams who have been neck and neck all season. Both accumulated 78 points in the regular season whilst Darlaston scored 98 goals to Stapenhill's 97, although Darlaston have conceded less goals. But it all looks as though it could be a close game and admission to the game tomorrow is £5 for adults, £3 for children and under tens free. Kick off is 3pm. |
