The Midland Football League (MFL) is inviting applications for the role of Media Officer, an exciting opportunity to play a key part in promoting one of the country’s leading non-league football competitions.

This voluntary position, supported by an annual honorarium and reasonable travel expenses, is ideal for someone passionate about football, media, and digital communications who wants to make a real impact across the non-league game.

About the Role

Reporting to the League Secretary and Board of Directors, the Media Officer will be responsible for managing and developing the League’s public profile across all media platforms. The role is hybrid and home-based, with attendance required at league meetings, fixtures, and events throughout the season, including evenings and weekends.

The successful candidate will help ensure the Midland Football League is portrayed professionally and positively, supporting communication with clubs, stakeholders, and the wider football community.

Key Responsibilities

The Media Officer will:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all media enquiries relating to the League
  • Prepare and distribute press releases and official announcements
  • Manage and develop the League’s website and social media channels
  • Create engaging previews, reviews, and feature content
  • Support member clubs with media guidance and best practice
  • Ensure compliance with FA and League regulations at all times

Skills and Experience

Applicants should demonstrate:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A strong understanding of non-league football
  • Experience managing websites and social media platforms
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines

Experience in media or journalism, along with CMS, photography, or video skills, would be advantageous, as would knowledge of FA or County FA structures.

Why Get Involved?

This role offers a unique chance to work at the heart of the Midland Football League, contributing to its growth, visibility, and reputation. It is well suited to aspiring sports journalists, media professionals, or committed volunteers looking to build experience within football while supporting the non-league game.
